Step by step Guide - Manicure Treatment
There are many areas that be be treated with paraffin, we have illustrated just one for your information.

Step 1

Prepare the manicure station for working and insert the paraffin cartridges, nozzle first, into the separate heating chambers of the Multi Pro Heater; heat the cartridges on "max" for approximately 15 minutes and then turn dial to "4" for 10 minutes until the paraffin has fully liquefied. Please note that ambient room temperature can affect heat up times and should be taken into consideration. Prepare your client by rolling their sleeves back and tuck a tissue around the top of the sleeve to protect their clothing.

Step 2

Sanitize the client's hands with an antiseptic hand cleanser; apply cleanser onto damp sponges or a damp towelling mitt and wipe over area to be treated. Dry the hands using a tissue or small hand towel.

Step 3

Apply a generous amount of intensive hand cream onto your client's hands and proceed with a 5 minute hand and arm massage.

Step 4

Take a Hive Polythene Protector and split along the seam; open it flat and gently place your client's hand palm upwards onto the polythene protector in preparation for the paraffin treatment.

Step 5

Remove your chosen paraffin cartridge from the Multi Pro Heater. Always ensure you close the lip to help retain the heat. Unlock the safety catch on the cartridge which is located under the nozzle head by using the finger and thumb of one hand to twist the plastic lever across and slide it down into the pre-cut slot. Do not attempt to spray the paraffin with the lock on or if the paraffin is not fully liquified.

Step 6

If required, take a protective sleeve and gently slide it over the base of the paraffin cartridge to help retain the heat and to pretect the therapist's hands - the cartridge can feel warm to the touch but does not reflect the heat of the paraffin applied to the client.

Step 7

Hold the paraffin cartridge 2' from the client's hand at a slight downwards angle with the spray nozzle pointing towards the palm of the hand. Squeeze and release the trigger to perform a consistent spray motion and cover the entire wrist and moving downwards towards the fingertips working quickly from side to side, covering the hand in a thick, even layer. Always test the temperature on the client prior to application.

Step 8

Support th eedges of the polythene pretector to prevent it lifting as you ask your client to lift and turn their hand over, so it lays palm downwards onto the polythene pretector. Repeat the above procedure on to the top of the hand. Once the whole hand is covered, remove the protective sleeve from the cartridge and place it back into the heating chamber.

Step 9

Lift the edges of the polythene protector at either side and wrap over the entire hand.

Sept 10

Place the wrapped hand into one of the towelling mitts and secure with the Velco fastening at the wrist. Repeat on the other hand.

Step 11

After approximately ten minutes remove the mitt from the hand. Cradle the client's hand in between both of your hands and gently massage over the polythene protector (this action helps to loosen the paraffin from the skin). Unwrap the top of the polythene protector, and by gripping your client's hand with your hands, slowly pull off the protector and paraffin like a glove; remove in one piece. If any praffin residue remains on skin, turn the top of the paraffin glove outwards to expose the paraffin and "dab" in between the fingers or behind long nails. Repeat the same procedure on the other hand.

Step 12

Once the paraffin has been removed, gently massage in any cream that may be left on the hands. The hands will feel softer, smoother and more hydrated and any aches and pains should be eased.
